American pop singer Britney Spear’s sister Jamie Lynn Spears spoke out on her sister’s controversial conservatorship nearly a week after the virtual court hearing.
One of the lead arguments made by Britney Spears was that her family “lived off” her conservatorship for nearly 13 years, due to which Jamie Lynn Spears came into the crosshairs of her fans.
However, the younger sibling broke her silence late Monday night through her Instagram stories and clarified that she had not been a part of the stir and has “loved and supported” her elder sister.
Jamie Lynn Spears also noted that she had kept silent on the matter so far was because it was not her place to say anything until Britney Spears had covered everything she wanted to.
She later added, “But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel I need to say.”
Jamie Lynn Spears’ statements, which were around two minutes long, touched base on two controversial matters, including Britney’s restrictions on having a child and her financial independence.
The 30-year-old younger sister said, “If she (Britney Spears) wants to run away to the rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before.”
Jamie Lynn Spears also dismissed all claims of her partaking in “living off” Britney’s money and said that she had been supporting her elder sister “long before there was a hashtag”, referring to ‘#FreeBritney’, which has been doing rounds on social media since the 39-year-old broke her silence in the courtroom last week.
“I mean, I’ve worked to pay my own frickin’ bills since I was 10 years old”, said Jamie Lynn Spears in her Instagram story to clarify that she did not rely on Britney’s money.
