Less than 24 hours after it was announced that Mick Schumacher, son of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, is set to cut all ties with Ferrari, a health update of the latter has surfaced. Michael Schumacher suffered a horrific brain injury while skiing in the French Alps in 2013 and has since been paralysed.

Former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt is one of the only people who is allowed to visit Michael, who remains at his home in Geneva, Switzerland, under the care of his wife Corinna and his family.

Michael’s health has been a closely guarded secret and not many have an idea regarding how the seven-time World Champion is. However, Todt, who visits Michael twice every month, has revealed that the F1 legend is getting the best care possible and is surrounded by people who love him.

“I’m happy that the fans, not only in Germany, think of him so much. People ask so much about Michael. The fans should know that he is in the best of hands,” Todt told Bild.

“In the best situation he can be and surrounded by people who love him,” he added.

The former Ferrari F1 team principal visits Schumacher regularly and revealed he will continue to do that as long as he lives.

“They are my friends and we are in constant contact. Whatever I can do for the Schumacher family, I’ll do it,” Todt said.

The 76-year-old also revealed that Michael Schumacher is still a fan of Formula One and they watch the races together.

“I don’t miss Michael, I see him. Yes, it’s true, I watch races with Michael,” Todt told RTL.

It has long been contemplated by experts that a 100% recovery is somehow a long shot for Michael Schumacher. On the other hand, his son, Mick, joined Formula One a couple of years ago, however, will be without a team in the next season when he leaves Haas and Ferrari Driver Academy.
