The gunman who went on a shooting spree in the city of Langley and in Langley Township, in the Canadian province of British Columbia, early Monday, has been taken into custody.
An emergency alert sent at 6:20 am read that a suspect was involved in multiple shootings. One incident in the Township involved “transient victims.” Residents were asked to avoid the area and stay vigilant.
“Multiple shooting scenes in the downtown core in the city of Langley with 1 incident in Langley township involving transient victims,” the alert sent to BC residents’ phones read.

The suspect was described by authorities as a Caucasian man with dark hair, last seen wearing brown Carhart coveralls and a blue and green camo T-shirt. He reportedly fled in a white car.
“Police have interaction with one suspect,” the alert said. “Unknown if others involved at this time. Please remain alert and out of the area.”

One of the incident areas was reportedly the intersection of 200th Street and Langley Bypass.
“We are asking the public to stay out of the following areas: 200 Street and Langley Bypass; Parking lot of Cascades Casino located at Fraser Highway and 204 Street, Langley Bus Loop located a Logan Avenue and Glover Road,” Langley RCMP said in a statement.

Police Sgt. Rebecca Parslow said she had no immediate details on the victims’ conditions.
Authorities initially said they were unsure if the shooter acted alone. But police later said the man in custody is believed to be solely responsible.
Langley is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) southeast of Vancouver.
