Russia has come under heavy criticism for its bombardment of Ukrainian cities, including its first-ever use of missile attacks on the Kyiv city centre.

The US said the brutal attacks targeted non-military targets such as a university and a children’s playground, and it promised more military assistance. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed “deep shock.”

The explosion on a crucial bridge connecting Russia and Crimea on Saturday, according to Vladimir Putin, was the reason behind the strikes. According to Ukraine, 83 missiles were fired, more than 43 of which were intercepted.

The devastating barrage, which included attacks on Lviv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia, was among the bloodiest to hit Ukraine in recent months.

According to officials, at least 14 individuals were killed and numerous others were hurt. After missiles struck the energy infrastructure, several areas were left without electricity and water. Residents of the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, claimed that it looked that Russia was targeting civilian places, including a children’s playground, a university, and the well-known Taras Shevchenko park, which were crowded with commuters on Monday morning.

Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the UN, stated at the UN General Assembly in New York that his family was in a residential area in Ukraine when it was attacked by the latest Russian missiles, and they were unable to go to a bomb shelter.

He claimed that Russia had already killed some of his relatives and described it as a “terrorist state” that must be deterred in all possible ways to prevent further atrocities. He went on to say that Moscow’s UN delegation left “a trail of blood” whenever it entered the General Assembly hall, as per BBC.
