Hakim Ziyech tucked home the winner as Chelsea downed Malmo FF 1-0 on Tuesday in the fourth round of UEFA Champions League Group H games. Although Chelsea enjoyed the lion’s share of possession, however, they failed to open in the scoring in the first half.

Chelsea, who thrashed Malmo 4-0 in their last meeting in London two weeks ago, are now equal on nine points with leaders Juventus, who face Zenit St. Petersburg later on Tuesday. Malmo is still at the bottom of the table with no points.

The best Malmo can hope for is Europa League qualifying. With two games remaining in the Champions League, the Swedish champion has lost all four of its Group H games and has failed to score.

Goalkeeper Johan Dahlin combined some excellent stops with a few hair-raising mishaps as his team was forced to defend for extended periods, frustrating their visitors in the first 45 minutes.

In the 56th minute, Callum Hudson-Odoi outpaced Franz Brorsson and sent a superb pass across the face of the goal for Ziyech to hammer home the game’s winner in a game that turned out to be tougher than expected for Thomas Tuchel’s side.

Throughout the game, Chelsea had 11 shots on target but Dahlin denied the London club on multiple occasions.

Chelsea, on the other hand, were missing Romelu Lukaku’s precision finishing, as both Havertz and replacement Christian Pulisic failed to convert from close range. Pulisic made his first appearance since the Premier League season began after recovering from an ankle ailment.

Chelsea holds a nine-point advantage after four games. In the other Group H encounter, Juventus, which has nine points, hosts Zenit St. Petersburg later Tuesday.
