The owner of the Wagner private military contractor, Yevgeny Prigozhin, made a risky and unheard-of action by directly challenging the Russian government. Prigozhin claimed that his forces had successfully advanced to Rostov on Saturday.

He stated that the forces encountered no opposition from young conscripts stationed at checkpoints

Moscow has taken preemptive steps to improve citywide security in light of recent events and the possibility of unrest. The authorities have boosted security measures to tackle the mounting tensions.

Prigozhin issued a stunning act of disobedience and called for an armed rebellion with the motive to oust the defense minister. He emphasized that his forces were not engaged in combat against inexperienced soldiers.

He accused the Russian military of orchestrating a lethal assault on his troops. He specifically targeted Sergei Shoigu, the defense minister, alleging that he ordered a rocket strike on Wagner’s field camps in Ukraine, where Prigozhin’s forces were reportedly operating on behalf of Russia.

He made strong accusations against Sergei, stating that the defense minister forced Vladimir Putin, the prime minister of Russia, to start a war with Ukraine and influenced him to do so. According to Prigozhin, Sergei said that Ukraine and NATO conspired to attack Russia, causing Russia to launch a military operation.

In response, a criminal inquiry against Yevgeny Prigozhin has been launched on the suspicion of inciting armed revolt in order to remove Russia’s defense minister. The investigation into the claims against Prigozhin revealed a serious charge against him with a potential threat to national security.

Prigozhin in a statement raised a warning and said “We will destroy anyone who stands in our way. We are moving forward and will go until the end. This is not a military coup, but a march of justice. He also urged military forces not to resist.
