A number of classified US government documents were reportedly found in the private office of President Joe Biden at the Penn Biden Centre for Diplomacy and Global Engagement from the time he was Vice President in the Obama administration.
The documents were discovered by Biden’s lawyers, and reports suggest that they were the ones who first brought the matter to the attention of the White House Special Counsel’s Office.
The matter has now been reported to the Department of Justice and investigation into the same has reportedly been assigned to U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois John Lausch by Attorney General Merrick Garland.
Republicans have meanwhile seized the opportunity to call out Biden and demand that the FBI should raid him as well.
Investor Colin Rugg reports that Donald Trump has asked, “When is the FBI going to raid the many homes of Joe Biden, perhaps even the White House?”
What is the Penn Biden Centre for Diplomacy and Global Engagement?
The Penn Biden Centre for Diplomacy and Global Engagement is an institution under the University of Pennsylvania that is dedicated to bringing together foreign policy leaders and people from the university in order to discuss and research issues around the leadership of America in the 21st century.
According to the institution’s mission statement, it is “founded on the principle that a democratic, open, secure, tolerant, and interconnected world benefits all Americans.”
The institute was established in 2018. After Biden became president in 2020, it had issued a statement saying that it ” will remain completely independent of the Biden administration, and the analysis and opinions of its staff and affiliated scholars will reflect their personal views alone, and not necessarily those of the University of Pennsylvania. The Penn Biden Center does not accept any contributions or gifts.”
