If Alfie the alpaca is to be believed, English and Welsh football fans expecting accurate predictions for this year’s World Cup in Qatar may be let down.
On Monday, the Oxfordshire-based animal made an appearance on the British daytime show This Morning to forecast the outcomes of the games taking place today, but he completely miscalculated when it came to England.

Alfie predicted that Iran will defeat Gareth Southgate’s team 3-0 even though he thought the Three Lions would go to the knockout rounds. In fact, England started off Group B strong by thrashing the Iranians 6-2.
Alfie had to choose between two feeding stations, each with a distinctive flag, for his forecasts. He allegedly hinted at a 3-0 victory by making three trips to the Iranian feeding station.

Who is Alfie the Alpaca?
Nick Laister of Fairytale Farm stated that the oracle alpaca Alfie “always give you this knowing look,” suggesting that he “knows a little bit more than you do,” and he was confident in his ability to predict the outcomes of today’s matches.
He continued, “He’s had a go. We’ve given him a test run, and he’s seemed to have predicted exactly the same. We’re fairly sure he knows what he’s doing.”

For Alfie’s approach, Nick prepared two feeding stations, each with a different flag, and commented, “I don’t want to put him off, it’s all very scientific,” as he filled them with food.
Three Lions fans may have been concerned about this afternoon’s England vs. Iran game after seeing the alpaca charge directly at the Iranian flag as co-host Phillip Schofield yelled, “Don’t you dare!”
In response, co-host Holly Willoughby joked, “So things aren’t looking great right now.”

To the relief of the English fans, however, England’s 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign got off to a strong start by dominating Iran in a match that was full of shenanigans in Doha.
Iran’s bleak situation was made even worse by the early loss of goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand to concussion following a collision with teammate Majid Hosseini. Gareth Southgate’s squad cruised to victory.
Ten minutes before halftime, Jude Bellingham gave England their first World Cup goal with a powerful header from Luke Shaw’s cross. Bukayo Saka’s superb shot and Raheem Sterling’s graceful outside-of-the-foot volley from Harry Kane’s cross sealed the victory before the break.
Before Mehdi Taremi’s brilliant goal after 65 minutes gave Iran’s fans a tremendous thrill, Saka scored his second. However, England substitute Marcus Rashford then struck another calm, composed goal with his first touch.
After a strong run and pullback by Callum Wilson, Jack Grealish slid home from close range to round off an extraordinarily dominant performance.
