Two of the three men who were captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan have been identified as – Miles Routledge and Kevin Cornwell. The former is a popular YouTuber and the latter is a medic, as per reports. The third unnamed person is a hotel manager.

The Daily Mail reported that the three were captured by Taliban’s secret police in January. Miles Routledge returned to  Afghanistan after being evacuated by British armed forces less than two years ago during the Kabul airlift. He travelled there for a ‘holiday’ and was caught up in the takeover. He calls himself ‘danger tourist’.

The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) said that it was attempting to secure consular contact with the three captured men and was supporting their families.

“We are working hard to secure consular contact with British nationals detained in Afghanistan and we are supporting families,” a spokesperson said.

Who are Miles Routledge and Kevin Cornwell?

Cornwell’s family was relieved following a telephone call with him, reports said. The medic spoke to them and was said to be in good spirits, upbeat and positive, according to Scott Richards, co-founder of the Presidium Network.

The medic is 53 years old. The Presidium Network is supporting his family. As per reports, the Brit was arrested at a hotel in Kabul when Afghan intelligence officers found a gun in his room safe on January 11.

Cornwell is from Middlesbrough. The Taliban accused him of having an illegal firearm in the safe in his room at the Darya Village Hotel.

Miles Routledge also calls himself ‘Lord Miles’. He is 23 years old and is from Birmingham. The YouTuber travels to the world’s most dangerous places. As per his bio, he studied physics at the Loughborough University

He has more than 150,000 followers on Twitter and more than 59,000 subscribers on his YouTube channel.
