Four American soldiers were killed in a plane crash during a NATO exercise in Norway over the weekend.

US Marine Corps identified the service members on Sunday and said that their remains have been recovered from the crash site and were in the process of being returned home.

One of them was identified as Capt. Ross A. Reynolds, a native of Massachusetts. The 27-year-old joined the Marine Corps in  2017 and served as an MV-22B Osprey pilot.

In the last five years, he won several accolades, including the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

Capt. Reynolds, along with the other three fallen military members, were assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261, Marine Aircraft Group 26, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing stationed on Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina.

In a statement to NBC10 Boston, Capt. Reynolds’ family said, “Ross was so caring, compassionate, and committed, not only to his country, but also to being the best son, brother, husband, son-in-law, nephew, cousin, uncle, brother-in-law, friend and Marine that he could be.”

They added that they were devastated by this loss and said they were praying for their daughter-in-law Lana.

“They had so many plans. So much ahead of them,” they said of the couple.

The family added that they were praying for the other three servicemen who lost their lives in the crash.

“Our hearts go out to their families and their loved ones. We share their grief and will keep them in our thoughts and prayers. As well as the rest of [Reynolds] squadron, that now has to fill a large void in their lives,” they told the outlet.
