Sadio Mane is leaving Liverpool after many years with the Reds. The Senegalese forward will leave the Premier League side this summer, Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sport reported.

Mane wanted to wait for the final which is why the offer from Bundesliga toppers FC Bayern Munich is still in nascent stages, but they are strong contenders. Bayern too wanted to be respectful, allowing Mane to focus on the Champions League final where Liverpool lost by one goal to La Liga toppers Real Madrid, in Paris. However, now that all fixtures are done with, Bayern is looking to make a push and anticipate other clubs, Romano reported.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, had dismissed rumours of Mane’s move to Bayern when they’d surfaced ahead of the CL final. The German had asserted his forward was focused on the game and pointed out it wasn’t the first time he’d heard of a player’s supposed move to the German side ahead of a big game. However, earlier, when Klopp had extended his contract with the Merseyside club, he’d been asked if this would impact decisions made by Mane and Mohamed Salah to stay on as well. At the time, the 54-year-old had said that it is their life

The 30-year-old Senegalese isn’t the only one whose contract with Liverpool expires this summer. Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Naby Keita’s contracts are also expiring, leaving their futures at the club in doubt.

While Bayern are poised to get the forward who had 23 goals from 51 appearances this season, the German side have to prepare for the loss of their striker, Robert Lewandowski

Speaking to SkyDe about his future, the Polish professional said “The time will come to give information. Soon it will be possible to say more”. However, Romano reports that Barcelona have reached a three-year agreement with Lewandowski’s agent Pini Zahavi, and are awaiting Bayern’s response.

Lewandowski, meanwhile, told Eleven Sports Poland, “Barça move? It depends on several factors. I think my situation is clear and there is no point talking about that”, but added, “It is hard to say that I will play for Bayern next season”, confirming his already-known desire of leaving the club.
