McLaren driver Lando Norris accidentally broke Max Verstappen’s winner’s trophy during the post-race celebration at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Social media videos showed the porcelain cup thudding on the ground as the drivers rejoiced. The current world champion has since received an apology from McLaren over social media.

They wrote on Twitter, “Sorry Max.” Red Bull then seemed to admit that Norris had really damaged the trophy. Red Bull responded to McLaren’s statement by saying, “We can’t take you anywhere glad to have you up there with us though. We’re gonna need some glue.”
Pictures posted online showed Verstappen leaving the podium with both pieces of the trophy as the base had broken off. The porcelain winners’ trophies for the Hungarian Grand Prix are entirely handcrafted. The estimated six-month production period costs £34,000 (€40,000).

After passing Lewis Hamilton on the first lap of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen sailed to victory, giving Red Bull an F1 record 12 straight victories.
From position two on the grid, Verstappen made a strong start to get behind pole-sitter Hamilton and take the lead going into Turn One. After that, the leader of the championship was never in danger as he sailed to a seventh straight victory by 33 seconds, making Red Bull the first team to win 12 straight races.
Lando Norris finished second once more for McLaren, and Sergio Perez, who started ninth in the other Red Bull, finished third after a series of exciting overtakes.

On a challenging afternoon where he dropped three spots on the opening lap, Perez had to fight off a charging Hamilton in the closing stages as the Mercedes finally came alive again on less fuel. However, the seven-time world champion was forced to settle for fourth.
