Kevin Spacey broke down in tears on Monday after a jury found him not guilty of sexual assault charges. He was charged with nine counts of sexual assault, indecent assault and causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

The jury deliberated for two days before coming to their decision. Spacey had testified during the course of the trial, as had the four men who had made the accusations against the actor. The former ‘House of Cards’ actor fought the case for the past four and a half weeks at Southwark Crown Court in London.

Jurors in the trial they could reach verdicts without unanimous decisions after they said they were deadlocked on some counts. The panel of nine men and three women were informed that it could reach verdicts if at least 10 of 12 jurors agree.

The jury retired without a verdict Tuesday. By this time, they had deliberated for seven hours over two days. They were told by the judge to go home and after having a good night’s rest, return with a “fresh perspective.”

In the end, the jury dismissed each of the counts relating to the men’s accounts.

Spacey also won a $40 million civil lawsuit brought by actor Anthony Rapp last October. Rapp had accused Spacey of sexual battery, which he claimed took place in 1986 but a New York jury dismissed the claim.

None of the men accusing Spacey in the UK have been named for legal reasons. One of them has accused the actor of repeatedly grabbing him by the crotch including a time they were in a car and he was driving. He claimed that Spacey grabbed him so hard he almost drove the car off the road. 

In their testimonies, the men described Spacey as a “sexual bully” and a predator.
