Why did Las Vegas Raiders’ Josh Jacobs is switching his jersey number?
Although Jacobs did not mention why exactly he was changing his jersey number from 28 to 8, it is believed to be a throwback to his days at the University of Alabama.
Jacobs’ return came after a contract standoff with the team. He and his team were unable to agree on a contract extension prior to the deadline for franchise-tagged players to sign extensions. He also missed the majority of preseason and training camp. Before the standoff, he was being offered $10.1 million in June, an amount he was not happy with. This was after the Raiders declined the running back’s fifth-year option in April 2022.
