A host at a German radio channel has recently come at the receiving end of BTS ARMY’s wrath after he made allegedly racist comments on the South Korean boy-band. Matthias Matuschik, who is the host at the German radio station Bayern 3, tweeted his reaction to BTS’ recent MTV Unplugged program, where he called the band of seven, something similar to coronavirus and even said that they should be taking a 20-year vacation to North Korea.
Originally in German, his post attracted a lot of anger from BTS fans who are collectively known as the BTS ARMY. They accused that Matuschik’s comments were not racist and reeked of xenophobia. The South Korean boy-band is known for having a universal fanbase. The tweets were also translated and shared, attracting a lot of agitation against his insensitive remarks. Hashtags such as Bayern3Apologise, Bayern3Racist have also been trending.

In response to the wide criticism against him, Matuschik further explained himself without toning down his emotions against BTS. He critiqued their cover of Coldplay’s Fix You’ calling it blasphemy and justified that it was for this that they should go to North Korea.
Defending allegations of racism and Xenophobia, he said that he is not a racist because he has a South-Korean car that according to him is the coolest car ever.

Bayern 3 has also issued a statement defending their host. In its statement, they have said that Matuschik was only expressing his honest opinions and that his intention was not to be racist or hurtful. They also said that his Facebook page would go on to show how he is not a racist or xenophobic person.
