“COVID-19 is the worst pandemic in the last 100 years,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said while addressing the nation in his 23rd Mann Ki Baat 2.0.
Alongside COVID-19, India faced two major cyclones in the past 10 days, Cyclone Tauktae and Cyclone Yaas, PM Modi said. He “humbly acknowledged” the efforts of people who faced the two cyclones and were involved in the rescue mission.
Centre, States and local administration are united in fighting these disasters, the 70-year-old BJP leader said in his address.
PM Modi said, “We all stand steadfastly with those who have suffered losses,” during cyclone Tauktae and Yaas.
During 2nd wave of COVID-19, a major challenge was to supply medical oxygen to remote areas, PM Modi said, and added, “To counter challenges that the country faced, drivers of Cryogenic oxygen tankers helped by working on war footing and saved lives of lakhs of people.”
“In normal times daily production of liquid medical oxygen was 900 MT, it has now risen over 10 times to nearly 9,500 M,” PM Modi said in his address.
