Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will on Sunday address a public rally at Gorakhpur ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in the state. PTI reported that the rally comes days after the Congress leader launched her party’s election campaign early this month in Varanasi, where she targetted the reported “failures” of the Yogi Adityanath-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in meeting its promises to the people of the state.
The Sunday’s Gorakhpur rally is seen as critical by political watchers since the seat of Gorakhnath Math is considered Adityanath’s area of dominance, and as such, is expected to draw major attention. Priyanka Gandhi’s rally also marks the second major Congress event in the Purvanchal region, the earlier being the Varanasi rally on October 10.
