Vice President Omar Abdullah said that two senior leaders of the party were
detained days after Farooq Abdullah led-People’s Alliance for Gupkar
Declaration made a victory in District Development Committee (DDC) polls, ANI
reported.

 He said that a woman contestant who won the
seat in Shopian was forced to become a member of the Apni Party. They had a
phone recording to corroborate the facts.

“We have a phone
recording to prove it,” Abdullah said.

The National Conference
leader also claimed that the government was harassing the contestants fighting from
Shopian.

“They are being put under preventive detention
for no reason,” he said.

After the DDC elections were concluded in Jammu and Kashmir,
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that people have voted for democracy.

“The people of J&K have voted for strengthening
democracy in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Prime Minister said, ANI reported.

PM Modi spoke after launching the Ayushman Bharat Health
Scheme in the state via a video conference.

The union territory of
Jammu and Kashmir witnessed its first elections after the abrogation of Article
370. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party.
