Jonty Rhodes, the fielding and batting coach of the Punjab Kings, was on Wednesday seen bowing down to touch Mumbai Indians’ mentor Sachin Tendulkar’s feet. The two sides locked horns at the MCA Stadium Pune, the former winning by 12 runs.
One of the best fielders cricket has seen, Jonty Rhodes, was walking bac to the dugout as players exchanged handshakes. As soon as the South African came across Tendulkar, he bowed down to touch the Master Blaster’s feet. The two then embraced each other.

This is not the first time a player has tried to touch Sachin Tendulkar’s feet. Virender Sehwag, who opened with Tendulkar in their playing days, and Yuvraj Singh have done it before.

Sachin Tendulkar worked with Jonty Rhodes at the Mumbai Indians when the South African was their fielding coach. He joined the franchise in 2009 before, served until 2017 and shifted base to Punjab in 2020.

“Watch IPL just for moments like these. Jonty Rhodes & Sachin Tendulkar – both Gods of Cricket!” a Twitter user said.
“How I wish I were in place of Jonty Rhodes! God is respected everywhere he goes,” another one tweeted.

The Mumbai Indians have now faced five defeats in a row. They were first crushed by the Delhi Capitals and then losses against Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings just followed.
Against PBKS, MI could manage 186 runs in a 199-run chase.
