A spin-off series on John Cena’s titular anti-hero, Peacemaker, is in the works and it can’t come sooner given the hype every new look of a poster seems to generate among the fans.
James Gunn, the director behind the success of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and the recent hit The Suicide Squad, shared a poster showing John Cena’s Peacemaker on a wanted advertisement.
With The Suicide Squad, Gunn marked his entrance into the DC Extended Universe and introduced a variety of new additions to the Task Force X.
Cena’s Peacemaker was also Gunn’s gift to the movie adaptation, who is described as a “douchey version of Captain America.”
James Gunn shared a Peacemaker poster on their Instagram profile as part of NYCC.
The poster also includes a phone number that fans can call and, when dialed, are told “you have now joined the Task Force X meeting, which Peacemaker was late to…”
The image encourages fans to take a photo of themselves saluting under a ‘wanted’ ad of Peacemaker.
A day ago, HBO Max had unveiled a poster for the series which featured John Cena’s anti-hero sitting on his car in a costume holding his helmet.
Peacemaker is slated for a January 2022 release after wrapping up production before July 2021.
In the upcoming series, Peacemaker will join hands with fellow ARGUS members John Economos, Danielle Brooks’s Leota Adebayo, Emilia Harcourt, Robert Patrick’s Auggie Smith, Freddie Stroma’s Adrian Chase/Vigilante, and Chukwudi Iwuji’s Clemson Murn to form a black-ops team to prevent an impending catastrophe.
The fact that Gunn also has more DC projects in the works has really helped build the anticipation for Peacemaker and how the DC Universe will come together.
