17,636 students have been placed under compartment.

Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram has recorded the highest pass percentage of the country, with 99.99% students passing. Karnataka’s Bengaluru is second with 99.96% and Chennai is third with 99.94%.

“The result of 16,639 students is till under process. No merit list will be declared this year and no merit certificates will be issued to students,” BSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj said.

“The compartment examination will be conducted between August 16 and September 15. The exact dates will be announced in some time,” he added.

The board had on May 1 announced an alternate
marking scheme
for the Class 10 board exams this year. Students were marked out
of 100 marks for each subject, including 20 from internal assessment and 80 from various exams conducted throughout the year.

The exams contributing to the 80 marks include
periodic tests, half-yearly or mid-term exams and pre-board exams. “The marks
should be in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class 10
Board examinations,” the board said in an official notification.

There are no provisions for re-evaluation or
re-verification of answer books for results calculated using the objective
criteria, the CBSE had said.

The exams, due to be held from May 4 to June 7, were cancelled because of the aggressive
second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The CBSE had declared the results for the class 12 board exams on Friday, with 99.37% students passing those exams.

The passing percentage for the year 2020 was 91.46%
from a total of 1,85,885 students who had registered for the exam, an increase
by 0.36% from 2019. Over 1.5 lakh students were placed in the compartment
category. The passing percentage among girls was 93.31% compared to 90.14%
among boys.
