Israel envoy Ron Malka believes that the blast outside the Israeli Embassy in New Delhi on Friday evening could be a “terror attack”, ANI reported.

Several central government buildings were put on high alert in the national capital after a minor IED blast outside the Embassy.

Malka, the ambassador of Israel to India, has said that it could be a “terror attack.”

“As of now, our strong assumption is that it’s a terror attack that targeted Israeli Embassy. Fortunately nobody was hurt,” he said.

“Yesterday when this terror attack was took place, we celebrated 29th anniversary of full establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and India, exactly yesterday. So, it may not be a coincidence,” he added, ANI reported.

He also said there could be a possibility of link between the explosions in 2012 and yesterday.

“In 2012, there was a terror attack on Israeli diplomats in Delhi not far from Embassy. It might be connected, there might be a pattern. We’re investigating & this is one of the options,” he said.

Malta said that investigation into the blast was ongoing and that they “have full trust Indian authorities.”

“We have full trust in the Indian authorities, that it will take any measures that are needed to protect the Israeli representatives that are in India, and second, to conclude this investigation & finding those that are responsible for that,” he said, ANI reported.

Several measures have been taken to amplify security levels across Delhi. Investigators have found a CCTV footage in which two people can be seen getting off a cab near the blast site.
