Aaron Finch and his
men created history to lift their maiden T20 World Cup title on Sunday,
November 14, with an eight-wicket win over New Zealand in Dubai.

After winning the
toss, Australia opted to bowl. With a brilliant spell of 3/16 from Josh
Hazlewood, 1/26 from Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins’ economical bowling, they
restricted the Kiwis to 172 runs. During the chase, brilliant knocks by David
Warner and Mitchell Marsh handed a comfortable win to Australia.

Here is a look at
the prize money of the tournament that each team received. The total prize
money of the T20 World Cup 2021 of $5.6 million (Rs 42 crores) is divided among
16 teams that participated in the tournament. Of this, Australia took home Rs
13.1 crores, which includes Rs 11.9 crores for winning the tournament and Rs
1.2 crores for winning four Super 12 matches. Runners-up New Zealand won Rs
7.15 crores — Rs 5.95 crore as runners-up and Rs 1.2 crores for winning four
Super 12 matches.

Losing
semi-finalists Pakistan and England received Rs 3 crores each. Apart from that,
Pakistan received Rs 1.5 crores for posting five wins in the Super 12 stage.
England received Rs 1.2 crores for winning four out of five Super 12 matches,
thus winning a total prize money of Rs 4.2 crores.

Next are the eight
teams that failed to qualify beyond the Super 12 stage. From Group A, South
Africa, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Bangladesh and from Group B, India,
Afghanistan, Namibia and Scotland were eliminated in the Super 12 stage.

Those teams that
managed to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the tournament received Rs 52
lakhs each. Apart from that, for winning each match in the Super 12 stage, the
teams received Rs 30 lakhs per match.

India earned a
total prize money of Rs 1.42 crores, which includes Rs 52 lakhs for reaching
the Super 12 stage and Rs 90 lakhs for winning three matches in the Super 12
stage.

Also, the four
teams that played the qualifier of the tournament but could not qualify for the
Super 12 stage received Rs 30 lakhs to qualify for Round 1 and Rs 30 lakh for
winning each match in Round 1 stage of the tournament. These teams are Oman,
the Netherlands, Ireland and Papua New Guinea (PNG).
