India reported 11,713 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry’s data released on Saturday showed. 95 people died of the coronavirus on Friday.
India’s total coronavirus caseload now stands at 10,814,304 with the death toll at 154,918.
There are 148,590 active virus cases in the country, while 10,510,796 have recovered.
A total of 20,06,72,589 samples have been tested for COVID-19 so far, including 740,794 on Friday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
India recorded its first virus case on January 30, last year. It is the second worst-hit country by the coronavirus, which first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan, in late 2019, after the United States.
India’s mass vaccination programme was launched on January 16, with a total of 5,416,849 having been inoculated so far.
