Jacob Knowles, a fisherman from the United States, has caught a 100-year-old lobster that would have probably been caught by his ancestors too.
The fisherman shared a clip of the enormous lobster on Instagram and the scene showing the creatures’ features. He said, “This is quite possibly the biggest lobster we’ve ever got.” The video has more than 15.7K views and 1,330 likes. Comments include, “Pretty cool”, “Dang that’s impressive!” and many more.
He also explained the reason that he was able to get hold of the lobster was because of its small claws. He also said that the lobster might have lost his earlier claws to grow new ones. “Unfortunately, his claws don’t match his body, but if you look at his body it’s very impressive,” he added.

He also stated that the lobster could have possibly been caught by his grandfather or even great grandfather around 90 years back when it would have been undersized and legal to catch. He also said, “If you want to get crazy, it’s possible that my great-great grandfather got that lobster when he was a baby.” He says in the video that all his ancestors have fished in the same area for years. Knowles says that these lobsters migrate over the same area for years which is why it could be a common catch for all three generations.
He also informed his audience about the condition of the lobster. He said that the lobster does not have teeth on his claws but still looks quite healthy for its age. He also finds a bit of shell disease starting but says, “overall he is in good shape.” Knowles throws the lobster in the water with free food and sends him off saying, “make some babies.”
