Multinational fast-food chain McDonald’s launched its new Saweetie Meal on Monday (EST). The meal, based on the franchise’s collaboration with American singer Saweetie, comes with a side of ‘Saweetie ‘N Sour’ sauce.
McDonald’s Saweetie meal will be available for a limited time at participating restaurants across the United States. It includes a Big Mac, four-piece Chicken McNuggets, medium fries, medium Sprite, Tangy BBQ Sauce and a renamed Sweet ‘N Sour sauce.
Saweetie, a rapper best known for her debut single ‘ICY GRL’, is the first female musician to collaborate with McDonald’s. The fast-food giant has launched several celebrity edition meals since September 2020. Saweetie replaces South Korean pop band BTS. Musicians like Travis Scott and J Balvin have also collaborated with McDonald’s.

“McDonald’s and I run deep – from growing up back in Hayward, California, all through my college days – so I had to bring my icy gang in on my all-time favorites. Depending on the mood I’m in, there are so many ways to enjoy my order,” Saweetie said in a statement last month when announcing the launch.
The Saweetie meal is trending on both Google and social media since early on Monday. While several people seemed excited about the meal, mainly because of its packaging and marketing campaigns, some complained about the meal missing the ‘special element’.

McDonald’s said the meal will be served in icy new packaging inspired by Saweetie’s own style. It will be available to order in restaurants, the drive-thru, with McDelivery and on the McDonald’s app using contactless mobile order and pay. The company said that the price will vary based on location.
McDonald’s also announced a ‘Saweetstakes’ contest. Through September 5, customers who order the meal in the McDonald’s app will be entered for a chance to win a prize worth $9,175. The winner will be selected randomly. The franchise and Saweetie are also giving fans the chance to win two limited-edition handbags from Brandon Blackwood along with a five-day trip to Las Vegas for two to see the singer perform.
