The central government has set up a control room in New Delhi as several states have confirmed cases of bird flu, ANI reported. Till now, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala have confirmed the H5N8 strain of bird flu.

Thus, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, which comes under the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, has set up a control room to take stock of the outbreak of preventive and control measures undertaken by state authorities.

In Kerala, around 1,700 ducks have died of the flu, PTI reported. 

In Madhya Pradesh’s Indore, 155 dead crows were found with the H5N8 strain, news agency PTI reported, quoting an official.

In Himachal Pradesh, dead migratory birds, found around the Pong Dam Lake sanctuary in Kangra, tested positive for H5N8.

More than 600 birds in Rajasthan died due to the avian flu.
