Emirates had created a huge buzz in August 2021 by filming an advertisement on top of Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Once again, they’ve levelled this up by recreating the video. However, there’s an added twist in their latest release.
In last year’s advertisement, Nicole Smith Ludvik, the professional skydiving instructor, was seen standing on top of the building as the camera’s focus zoomed out from her to show a magnificent view of Dubai’s incredible backdrop. The UAE-based airline’s new advertisement features Nicole Smith Ludvik on top of the 2,722 feet building again, but she has company this time!

Nicole Smith Ludvik is dressed as an Emirates airlines flight attendant and can be seen holding a series of placards at that great height. Her first placard reads: ‘I’m still here’ and the next card goes on to say, ‘Wow, I can see the Dubai Expo’. The final card which she shows us reads, ‘Finally, here come my friends’. The camera, at this instant, zooms out to show an Emirates A380 flying behind her. On the aircraft are the colourfully painted words of ‘Dubai Expo’, which then takes a spin around the building.

The added twist features the massive A380 aircraft, which was specially painted to promote the Dubai Expo 2020. The Expo is currently being hosted in the city but was originally scheduled from October 2020 to April 2021. It had been postponed due to the pandemic.

After sharing the advertisement last week, the airline opened up about the behind-the-scenes of the shoot on Twitter. They wrote: ‘Watch behind the scenes to see how we took our A380 for a spin around Burj Khalifa for the making of our new advertisement”. The video explained how it had taken around 11 tries to get a shot of the plane behind Nicole Smith Ludvik, underscoring the meticulous planning and safety protocols that had gone into making the advertisement.
