Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has welcomed the Supreme Court’s judgement in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case and said that they will cooperate with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

“It is a matter of pride for Mumbai Police that Supreme Court observed that there was no fault found in their investigation,” said Deshmukh.

Earlier today, the Supreme Court upheld the transfer of an FIR lodged in Patna to the CBI.

The FIR was lodged on July 25 by actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father KK Singh against actor Rhea Chakraborty, her parents, Indrajit and Sandhya Chakraborty, brother Showik, Rajput’s manager Samuel Miranda and Shruti Modi and other unknown persons accusing them of cheating and abetting his son’s suicide.

Singh had also alleged that an amount of Rs 15 crore was siphoned off from Rajput’s bank account in one year to accounts of individuals not known or connected to the late actor.

The court said that a fair, competent and impartial investigation into Rajput’s “unnatural death” was the need of the hour, according to PTI. 

“When truth meets sunshine, justice will not prevail on the living alone but after Life’s fitful fever, now the departed will also sleep well. Satyameva Jayate (Truth alone triumphs),” said the apex court. 

The case was being heard by a single-judge-bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy, who pronounced the judgment.

Rajput (34) died by suicide on June 14 at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, following which, his family, friends and fans have demanded a CBI probe into the case.
