The prices of petrol and diesel continued to rise for the seventh consecutive day, as the price of petrol in Mumbai is now Rs 95.46 a litre against Rs 95.21 on Sunday. The price of diesel in Mumbai is Rs 86.34 per litre. The diesel price was 30 paise lower on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in Delhi, the price of petrol topped Rs 88.99 a litre against Rs 88.73 on Sunday. The price of diesel was Rs 79.35 a litre, an increase of 29 paise, according to Indian Oil Corporation’s website.
The hike in prices of petrol and diesel by state-run market companies on Monday comes for the seventh consecutive day across India. In the last seven days, the price of petrol has increased by Rs 2.06 per litre while diesel price has gone up by Rs 2.56 per litre.
In Kolkata, the petrol prices went up by 24 paise to Rs 90.25 a litre, from Rs 90.01 on Sunday. The diesel prices increased by 29 paise by Sunday’s rate to Rs 82.94 a litre. Meanwhile, in Chennai, the price of petrol went up 23 paise against Sunday, to Rs 91.19 per litre. The diesel price increased to Rs 84.44 a litre, 28 paise more than Sunday’s price.
In Bhubaneswar, Congress workers are observing a six-hour-long statewide bandh and stage ‘rail roko’ agitation in protest against the rise in fuel prices. The petrol and diesel at Rs 89.69 per litre and Rs 86.47 per litre respectively in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
