A man from New Zealand recently underwent a nightmare
experience of getting a cockroach extracted from his ear, three days after feeling
a squirmy sensation. The ordeal began when Zane Wedding, a man from Auckland, felt
a blocked sensation in his ear. Zane, who had gone for a swim just a day before,
assumed water being the culprit of his blocked ear canal. It was only after he
began experiencing something crawling inside his ear, that he took off to a
doctor.

According to New Zealand Herald, despite of antibiotic
prescriptions, Zane’s squirmy ear persisted, forcing him to visit an ear clinic.
He was also advised to dry the inside of his ear with a hairdryer.

During his visit, the doctor speculated Zane to be
suffering from a tumour, but later assumed an insect to be the source behind. The
doctor then went on to extract a cockroach from his ear canal, leaving Zane in
disbelief.

After the horrifying experience, Zane took to social media
to share his ordeal and advised social media users to immediately rush to a
doctor in case of a skin-crawling feeling inside the ears. He further posted a
picture of the insect on his Facebook page.

Sharing
the image, Zane wrote “went to the Dr on Saturday
with a blocked ear. The Dr said he couldn’t see anything and it would go away
by itself. Went for a second opinion today at a different Dr and had a
cockroach removed from my ear. 3 days with a roach in my ear.”  

The squirmy image has amassed multiple
comments of internet users expressing their shock and disbelief. Zane also
shared the name of the clinic that had wrongly prescribed him antibiotics.

In
conversation with New Zealand Herald, Zane added that the condition made him feel
“physically ill”. On the other hand, the doctor responsible for the extraction
stated, “I’ve never seen this before. I’ve read about it, but never seen
it’.”

Despite the terrifying
experience, Zane stated that the incident has taught him to always seek a
second opinion for medical conditions.
