For those who were expecting to see ex-couple Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone again on big screen together with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next directorial’ Baiju Bawra’ , here’s the sad news. Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh are the ones who are going to lead the show in this musical marathon.

For the record Ranveer was the first actor to be signed for ‘Baiju Bawra’ and he was Bhansali’s first choice.

“The character needs a certain madness, a junoon that only Ranveer can project. Ranbir was never considered for the role,” a source close to the epic filmmaker reveals, reports Bollywood Hungama.

Alia Bhatt is already the leading lady of Sanjay Bhansali’s next directorial ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.

“Alia was insistent. Bhansali thought she fitted the part. When she read the script she went berserk. Alia says it is the best script she had read,” says a source.

‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ , a biographical crime drama, walks through the life of young Ganga who in no time marks her own territory and becomes Gangubai – a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura. The film is set to release in Hindi and dubbed Telugu languages.

The film is loosely based on a true story, on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai written by S. Hussain Zaidi. The film that depicts the rise of a simple girl from Kathiawad who had no choice but to embrace the ways of destiny and swing it in her favour.
