The Science Guy is now a married guy.

In the month of May, American television presenter Bill Nye tied the knot with journalist and author Liza Mundy in an intimate wedding ceremony at the Castle Building’s Haupt Garden located in Washington D.C.’s Smithsonian Institute. 

According to a report by People, the pair hit it off after realizing their shared love for storytelling and learning.

Mundy, a New York Times best-selling author and former reporter for the Washington Post, mentioned the television personality’s mother in her book ‘Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II.’

This sparked a reaction from Nye, who wrote an email to Mundy after finding out that she wrote about his mother Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, who worked as a cryptanalyst for the US Navy during the Second World War.

As time went by, the duo got closer.

Fast forward to the day of their wedding, ‘Star Trek’ actor Robert Picardo officiated the ceremony in which Mundy and Nye had written their own vows that were, according to a source, “equal parts moving and comical.”

66-year-old Nye opted for a black tuxedo that was paired with blue cufflinks that belonged to his father, Edwin D. Nye. 

On the other hand, 61-year-old Mundy’s wedding ensemble was a satin white gown with an embellished belt. She completed the all-white look with a colorful bouquet.

Anna, the author’s daughter, was among those who raised a toast for the couple. Nye’s brother, Darby, and his childhood friend, Brian, also delivered speeches to celebrate the union. 

For the reception, Mundy wore sparkly sneakers as she danced with Nye on Sam Cooke’s ‘What a Wonderful World’.
