Justin Jefferson is an American football wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). Born on June 16, 1999, he played college football at Louisiana State University and was drafted No. 2 overall by the Vikings in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. After accumulating a record-breaking 1,400 receiving yards as a rookie in the NFL, he was selected for the Pro Bowl. In his first two professional seasons, Jefferson was selected for two Pro Bowls.

Jefferson said on January 15, 2020, that he would forgo his senior year and instead declare for the NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings selected Jefferson with the 22nd overall choice in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Prior to now, the Vikings acquired the 22nd pick in a historic trade that sent wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Buffalo Bills. With a $7.1 million signing bonus, Jefferson agreed to a four-year, $13.12 million contract with the franchise.

In his first game of his rookie season, Jefferson recorded two receptions for 26 yards against the Green Bay Packers in Week 1. In Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, he received his first start of the year and had his first significant game-changing performance, finishing with 175 receiving yards and a score on seven grabs, although the Vikings fell short 30-31. By the end of the season, Jefferson had surpassed Anquan Boldin’s 1,377 yards from 2003 to set the NFL record for the most receiving yards (1,400) by a rookie in league history. Along with defensive end Chase Young of the Washington Football Team, he was one of just two rookies nominated to the 2021 Pro Bowl.

With 1,616 receiving yards at the end of the 2021 season, Jefferson finished second in the league and 16 yards shy of Randy Moss’s single-season franchise record. In addition to Sammy White and Randy Moss, Jefferson is the only wide receiver for the Minnesota Vikings to be selected to the Pro Bowl in each of their first two seasons of playing. Jefferson was selected to the AP All-Pro second team for the second year in a row, losing out on a berth on the first team by one vote.
