A drive-by shooting in front of Carl Schurz High School in Chicago left four people, including three teenagers, wounded.
Police and Chicago fire officials responded to the area of Milwaukee and Addison shortly before 2.45 pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of a shooting.
The responding officers found four people with gunshot wounds. Three victims, who were teenagers, were rushed to local hospital. While two of them were reported to be in a critical condition, the third had suffered non-life-threatening injuries. An adult was also injured in the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was reported to be out of danger.
The school did go into lockdown.
“Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is working closely with Chicago Police Department (CPD) as we respond to a shooting near one of our high schools, just prior to the school’s dismissal bell. The school went on a lockdown while the CPD responded and that lockdown has since been lifted and students have been released. We will communicate any additional information with the school community. Our thoughts are with those individuals injured in this incident,” Chicago Public Schools said in a statement.
It wasn’t clear if the injured juveniles were students.
No information was available regarding the suspect.

Speaking to CBS News, Jose Villanueva, a witness, said heard gunshots while waiting for his niece outside the school.
“As soon as I parked here, I heard the shots. That’s about it,” he told the outlet adding that he heard “roughly three” shots.
“The kids were sitting over there having a good time. All of a sudden when they heard the shots, they went down. Since we heard the shots and everything, I figured out that the school was on lockdown – which is what happened,” he added.
