In one of the most anticipated games till date in the Premier League 2022-23 season, Manchester United will be up against local rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their first derby of the season. While the defending champions, City, are yet to lose a match this season, United are on a four-game unbeaten run and will look to continue the same on Sunday.

If Man City manage to beat United by a three-goal margin, they will match the record of eight straight league wins with a margin of at least three goals, which was scripted by Tottenham Hotspur in 1965.

United’s winning streak

Manchester United can extend their winning streak to five matches if they defeat City. The last time they won five league matches in a row was under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in April 2021.

City can record their 18th league win against United

If Man City manage to beat the Red Devils, it will be their 18th victory against the latter in Premier League history. They can thus touch the record of the highest number of wins against United currently held by Liverpool and Chelsea.

City to repeat 2013-14 feat?

From the period between November 2013 to April 2014, Manchester City had defeated their local rivals in the Premier League on three consecutive occasions, a feat they have not repeated since then. However, having won their two previous league matches against United, Guardiola’s side will surely be looking for the elusive third back-to-back victory.
