Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) reported on social media that a plane has crashed in Marietta, Ohio on Tuesday morning. Marietta is located in Washington County of Ohio state. Local authorities are responding to the incident, reports say.  

It was a twin-engine jet that crashed into a car dealership lot, killing two individuals, according to local authorities.

The area between I-77 and Browns Road on SR 7 has been closed off due to the incident. People travelling that way have been asked to avoid the route till its opening is notified. 

OSHP has established a media staging area for the crash at the Lowes, near 842 Pike Street. Media persons covering the incident have been asked to report it from there.

WCHS-TV’s Eyewitness News reported that the plane crashed into a car parking lot and burst into flames. It is not yet clear if there have been any casualties due to the incident.

A video of the incident was also recorded and uploaded by Amber Davis and it is circulating on social media. 

BuckeyHills, a government organisation, said in a tweet that their offices have closed down due to the crash. However, the organisation’s staff is available remotely and is responding to all work-related calls.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Nathan Dennis, the 1974 Beechcraft King Air E90 crashed in the Pioneer Buick GMC dealership’s parking lot, killing the sole person in the aircraft apart from the pilot. 

As per Flightradar 24 data, the plane was travelling from Columbus to Parkersburg, West Virginia, just a few miles from the disaster site, when it crashed shortly after at 7 a.m. The flight reportedly departed from the John Glenn Columbus International Airport at roughly 6:35 a.m.
