The commencement of the holiday weekend in Cleveland was marked by a flurry of police activity, with law enforcement responding to three shootings, some of which proved fatal, all within the span of less than an hour.

The initial incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. on Thursday in the 14900 block of Miles Avenue, situated near Lotus Drive on the southeast side of the city. Upon arrival at the scene, officers were informed that a 50-year-old man had sustained a gunshot wound. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead by Cleveland EMS at the scene. In their efforts to apprehend the suspect who had fled on foot, law enforcement deployed a K-9 unit. As of now, no arrests have been made, and the investigation into this shooting remains ongoing.

The second shooting transpired around midnight in the 3100 block of E. 130th Street, with no immediate details available regarding the victim or their condition.

Shortly thereafter, a third shooting incident was reported at approximately 12:05 a.m. on Friday, occurring at the intersection of Lorain Avenue and Denison Avenue. At this location, crime scene tape was visible, encircling Izzo’s Cafe, while detectives worked diligently to process evidence within the bar. According to a police press release, officers responded to a report of a 40-year-old man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The injured individual was promptly transported to the hospital by Cleveland EMS.

In the aftermath of this third shooting, the investigation is currently underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
