Rohit Sharma continued his poor form with the bat as the skipper got out after just scoring two runs off eight balls, in the Super 12 clash against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup.

This was just after the 35-year-old got a lifeline in third over off Taskin Ahmed delivery, when Hasan Mahmud dropped a sitter at deep backward. 

The dropped catch only cost the Bangladeshi team two runs, as Mahmud made up for it by dismissing the Indian captain in the very next over. The quick bowled a short ball on off stump, when Sharma tried to uppercut. He eventually ended up slicing the ball to the gully since he didn’t have enough room.

The skipper is facing a lean patch with the bat, hitting only a single half ton in his last 11 innings. Additionally, his performance in the year 2022 has been below par in the T20I format of the game.

He has played in 26 T20Is so far this year, scoring only 612 runs at an average of around 26 and a strike rate of 139. Only one half-century has come from his bat during this time. The Mumbai Indians captain has now gone five straight games without a half century. His last half ton came on July 29, when he scored a fifty against the West Indies.

Even in this World Cup, the skipper has been silent with the bat, only scoring a fifty against the meagre Dutch bowling attack. He scored 4 and 15 runs against Pakistan and South Africa respectively this tournament.
