Former NFL star Willie McGinest has been arrested in Los
Angeles. The New England Patriots legend was booked at around 7.30 am on
Monday, December 19, according to a TMZ report. The bail for his release has
been set at $30,000.
McGinest surrendered himself in connection with an assault
that allegedly occurred within the past two weeks, latest reports suggest.

The 51-year-old was a first-round pick in the 1994 NFL
Draft and played in the league for 15 years. He is considered one of the greatest
Patriots players ever. He won three Super Bowls and made two Pro Bowls with the team as well. In 2015, McGinest was inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame. He finished his career after the 2008 season with 804 tackles and 86 sacks.

Post-retirement, McGinest started his career as an NFL analyst for various television networks including Fox Sports, ESPN, and NFL Network. He was featured on the NFL Network’s documentary series A Football Life on October 5, 2018
He also owns an entertainment company in Los Angeles called 55 Entertainment. He appeared on SWAT in the Season 2 episode The B-Team, playing Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter Ryan Cook when the LAFD goes against the Los Angeles Police Department in a charity competition.
McGinest has cameo appearances in television shows Arli$$ and The Game, I Tried. He also appeared in the Disney XD show Lab Rats & Scorpion.
In October 1990, McGinest and teammates Michael Jones and Jason Oliver were charged with battery and false imprisonment when a female USC student accused them of sexual assault. The three players including McGinest were acquitted of all sexual assault and false imprisonment charges on June 15, 1991.
