Brad Thompson, father of Miami Dolphins quarterback Skylar Thompson, attended the team’s wild-card game against the Buffalo Bills at the Highmark Stadium on Sunday.
Miami Dolphins, after trailing at 17-0 for most part of the first-half, scored 17 points in seven minutes. The Bills led 20-17 at half-time.
Early in Q3, Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen was sacked. The ball came out of his hands and was recovered by Zach Sieler. It was then returned for five yards for a touchdown.
Miami took a 24-20 lead.
Skylar Thompson struggled in the first half. However, Miami’s defense and running game picked the team.
Social media users suggested that Thompson’s father Brad drove for 15 hours to watch his son’s playoff debut.
“Skylar Thompson grew up with his Father after he lost his Mother to cancer. His Father drove 15 hours to be @ this game. Okay, you have a new fan Mr. Thompson. Do your thing today!” a Twitter user said.
“Skylar Thompson’s father drove 15 hours to see his son’s debut and now his son may defeat the #2 team in the AFC Conference. Football is the greatest sport in the world and I dare anyone to tell me otherwise,” another one added.
“Skylar Thompson’s personal story is a tear jerker. Amazing what the young man has been through. So strong willed. I can’t be the only one asking why his father drove 15 hours to Buffalo though? Does he not like to fly? Could someone not spring him a ticket? Has to be something,” a third one said.
