Talia Ray, daughter of ‘cult leader’ Lawrence Ray, was found to be a co-conspirator in the Sarah Lawrence College sex abuse case. The 63-year-old was on Friday sentenced to six decades in prison by a federal judge in Manhattan. 

Larry Ray was described as an ‘evil genius’ by Judge Lewis Liman, who also added that his crimes were ‘particularly heinous’. Lawrence has been accused of sexually, psychologically and emotionally manipulated his daughter’s classmates.

“There is no reason to believe Mr. Ray will age out of criminal behavior,” Liman said.

The judge further noted that his crimes began in late 2010 when he moved into his daughter’s on-campus housing. 

“Through psychological terror and manipulation, he convinced them what they knew to be true was in fact false,” Liman added.

“He beat his victims. He tortured them and at times he starved them. He degraded them sexually to the point where they lost any self worth.”

Who is Talia Ray, Lawrence Ray’s daughter?

Talia Ray was named Lawrence Ray’s co-conspirator last year. She studied at the Sarah Lawrence college, a liberal arts institution in New York.

Talia grew up around New Jersey. She has a younger sister named Ava. After their parents’ divorce, she refused the judge’s orders for her mother to get their primary custody. 

Talia then stayed at a local youth shelter and supported her father, who moved in with her in the college campus. 

“Larry Ray is a monster. For years, he inflicted brutal and lifelong harm on innocent victims. Students who had their lives ahead of them. He groomed them and abused them into submission for his own gain. Through physical and psychological abuse, he took control over his victims’ minds and bodies and then extracted millions of dollars from them. The sentence imposed today will ensure that Ray will never harm victims again,” Damian Williams, US attorney for the Southern District of New York, which prosecuted the case, said in a statement.
