KL Rahul was dismissed immediately after hitting a half century against Zimbabwe on November 6, the second consecutive time in in the T20 World Cup 2022. Rahul scored 51 runs off 35 balls and hit three boundaries and as many maximums on the way to his fifty.

He also stitched a partnership of 50+ runs with Virat Kohli to rebuild the Indian innings, after Rohit Sharma was sent back to the pavilion in the fourth over by Blessing Muzarabani.

The opener had a shaky start to his innings, after a maiden first over from Richard Ngarava. However, he and Sharma hit the Zimbabwe pacers for a six and two fours respectively to give India their highest opening partnership of the tournament.

Sharma was dismissed later when he pulled a short ball off Muzarabani straight to Wellington Masakadza at deep backward square leg.

However, the opener was dismissed right after registering his fifty. Sikandar Raza tossed the ball, with KL Rahul holing it straight to the field at long off as he was caught out by Wellington Masakadza.

This was the second time that KL Rahul was dismissed right after registering a half-century, the first of which came against Bangladesh in the previous match.

Rishabh Pant, who came in for Dinesh Karthik in this match, also couldn’t make any impact with the chance he got. Pant got down to hit a good slogweep, but couldn’t cross MCG’s long boundaries. Ryan Burl took a brilliant running catch at wide long-on to send the wicketkeeper-batter back to the pavilion.
