Virat Kohli closed his eyes, placed his hand on his chest while singing the national anthem ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 game against Bangladesh on Wednesday. India lock horns with Shakib Al Hasan and co at the Adelaide Oval.

Pictures of Kohli’s reaction during the national anthem were shared on social media. India captain Rohit Sharma, in the team’s first game against Pakistan, was teary-eyed while singing ‘Jana Gana Mana’.

Talking about the atmosphere during the pre-game ceremony, Kohli earlier this week said, “Whenever we sing national anthem, I experience unity and energy. It gives me goosebumps all over”.

India started their innings slowly, scoring just a single runs in the opening over by Taskin Ahmed. The first boundary of the match came in the next over, when KL Rahul hit Shoriful Islam for a six.

Rohit Sharma, who has scored 452 runs in 11 innings with a strike rate of 140+, was dropped in the next over by Hasan Mahmud at deep backward. However, the dropped catch just cost the Bangladesh team two runs as Mahmud redeemed himself in the next over itself, when he took the Indian skipper’s wicket. The quick bowled a short ball on off stump, when Sharma tried to uppercut. However, he didn’t get enough room and ended up slashing the ball to gully. Yasir Ali completed the catch to send the 35-year-old back to the pavilion.
