April 1 is that time of the year when people fool others in order to spread happiness and cheer. The thing about April Fool’s Day is that there cannot be any hard feelings attached.

On this day, ridesharing company Ola’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal shared a video in which he announced a brand new and fully autonomous electric flying car. The body of the car is made of carbon fibre, titanium, sourced from F-1 cars in Germany, fighter jets from the US and soft drink cans from Shivaji Nagar and can be lifted with one hand.

If this isn’t enough, it’s autonomous, i.e. driverless and is capable of vertical take-off and landing that means it doesn’t need a runway.

“Ab har family bharegi udaan, Ola AirPro ke saath,” Aggarwal says.

The video drew some interesting reactions, with journalist-filmmaker congratulating the team for the achievement. In a witty reply, Aggarwal wrote, “Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi…,” referring to Nandy’s film.

“You got me there,” the filmmaker replied.

“Superb, can I open the windows while up there? I’d love some fresh air. Oh, and prime play too – bina music ke mazaa nahi aayega,” commented writer Chetan Bhagat.

“Back into the future 2025, Fulle (sic) autonomous Ola AirPro is now powered by wind energy and flight can be booked just with a thought, no app needed,” a user tweeted.

“The only issue is here too the driver will say , sir apko jidhar jana hain wahan mereko nahin jana hain,” tweeted another user.

According to Ola’s website, the car uses advanced quantum computing to assess, analyse and assimilate shared human behaviour. “Ola AirPro’s AI runs the car on perpetual autopilot mode,” the website added.

April Fool’s prank or not, this is the stuff dreams are made of.
