The world is
finally returning to normalcy one step at a time thanks to rapid vaccination taking
place throughout the globe. Some positive news has come our way, after a period
of more than six months the number of active cases of the coronavirus has
fallen below three lakhs.

The number
of active cases stood at 2,94,497. The number has been declining steadily since
the second wave peaked in May 2021. To refresh your memory, the number had
risen to over 37 lakh active cases during the worst of times.
While a lot
of states have managed to successfully overcome the peak and resume normal
functioning, Kerala still has a long way to go.

The country’s
most literate state is accounting for approximately 55% of the active cases.
More than 1.60 lakh people are battling the disease in the southern state as of
today. Around 60% of the reported deaths due to coronavirus are being reported
from the region.
A surge in
the number of cases is also being witnessed in Mizoram which a cause for alarm.
The small state has been averaging over 1,500 cases and been amongst the top
five contributors for over a week.

In Bihar,
Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Daman and Diu, Chandigarh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands
the active cases have fallen below the 100 mark. While 18 states and union
territories did not have a single death due to the coronavirus on Sunday.
The active
caseload constitutes less than 0.90 percent of the country’s total positive cases.

Good times
are expected ahead with a large number of population getting vaccinated every day.
According to an official release over 83.54 crore vaccines have been provided
to states and union territories through the government of India and the direct
state procurement category.
