The Sensex declined 287.70  points or 0.48% to 59,543.96 while the Nifty was down by 74.40 points or 0.42% to close at 17,656.35 at the end of Tuesday’s trading session.

The Sensex moved in a high and low band of 60,081.24 and 59,489.02. On the index, 10 stocks advanced and 20 stocks declined.

The Nifty traded in the high-low range of 17,811.50 and 17,637.00. On the index, 18 stocks advanced and 32 stocks declined.

The broader indices ended mixed with the BSE MidCap index up by 0.35% while the SmallCap index was down by 0.45%. The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE, Capital Goods was up by 1.24%, Auto was up by 1.22%%, PSU was up by 1.07%, Industrials was up by  0.84% and Oil & Gas was up by 0.53%. While FMCG by 1.10%, Telecommunication by 0.91%, Realty by 0.61%, Utilities by 0.60% and Bankex by 0.56% were the top losing sectoral indices on the BSE.

The top losers on the Sensex were  Nestle down by 2.83%, Hindustan Unilever by 2.71%, Bajaj Finserv by 2.55%, Kotak Mahindra by 2.52%, and HDFC by 1.59%. While the top gainers on the index were Tech Mahindra up by 3.29%, Maruti Suzuki by 2.72%, Larsen & Toubro by 1.98%, Dr Reddys Labs by 1.52%, and State Bank of India by 1.37%.

The top losers on the Nifty were the top losers were Britannia Industries down by 2.81%, Kotak Mahindra Bank by 2.71%, Hindustan Uniliver by 2.69%, Nestle by 2.64% and Bajaj Finserv by 2.63%. While Tech Mahindra up by 3.32%, Maruti Suzuki by 2.79%, JSW Steel by 2.33%, Larsen & Toubro by 1.85% and Eicher Motors by 1.67% were the top gainers on the index.

Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Indian Bank hit their 52-week high on Tuesday.

Precot Limited, Orissa Bengal Carrier Limited, Tracxn Technologies Limited, Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills Limited, and FSN E-Commerce Ventures Limited touched a 52-week low on Tuesday.

The South Indian Bank Limited, Bank of India, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, J&K Bank and NHPC Limited were the most active equities on NSE.

The top volume gainers were Digicontent Limited, Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited, Windlas Biotech Limited, NACL Industries Limited, and Ganga Forging Limited

Antarctica Limited, B.A.G Films and Media Limited, C & C Constructions Limited, DB (International) Stock Brokers Limited and Future Consumer Limited hit their upper price band.

Gayatri Projects Limited, IL&FS Transportation Networks Limited, Ind-Swift Limited, Metalyst Forgings Limited, and Sanwaria Consumer Limited, hit their lower price band. The upper price band was hit by 16 securities, 06 securities hit the lower band and 06 securities hit both the upper and lower bands on October 25,2022.
