Uttar Pradesh has postponed this year’s board exams for classes 10 and 12, reported PTI.  The decision has been taken amid a massive surge in COVID-19 cases, with the state recording more than 20,000 cases, the highest single-day spike.

The exams will now be held after May 20 and the new dates will be decided in the first week of May.

Also, all the schools will remain shut till May 15.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The state board exams were scheduled from May 8.

The state has also announced a night curfew in the state from 8 pm till 7 am in 10 districts with more than 2,000 active COVID-19 cases.

The districts are in Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Kanpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Gorakhpur
