Benedict Cumberbatch is an English actor born in 1976. He is an Emmy Award-winning actor and an Oscar nominee who has played some stellar roles like Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Strange, Star Trek villain Khan, Julian Assange, Alan Turing, and Hamlet. Cumberbatch has been named among the 100 most influential people by Time Magazine. He started his acting career in theater.

This 2014 historical drama film is directed by Morten Tyldum and written by Graham Moore. The movie is based on the 1983 biography Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges. The film revolves around the story of Alan Turing, a mathematician who helped crack the Enigma code of the Germans during WWII but was then mistreated by his home country due to his homosexuality. It was the highest-grossing independent film of 2014 in the US and it received eight nominations at the 87th Academy Awards. 12 Years a Slave 

12 Years a Slave is a 2013 biographical drama film directed by Steve McQueen and based on the 1853 slave memoir Twelve Years a Slave. The film is about the story to free a black man who was captured and sold into slavery in the pre-civil war. The film won three Oscars for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay. Benedict Cumberbatch played the lead role of a plantation owner. He treats his slave with kindness but is ultimately forced to sell him to another plantation to protect the slave’s life.

Doctor Strange is a 2016 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is the 14th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He played the role of a neurosurgeon who becomes involved in mysticism. After a car crash and near death experience the doctor discovers the world of hidden dimensions and magical powers. The film grossed over $677 million worldwide and was praised for its cast, visual effects, and music. The film also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.

It is a 2019 war film directed and produced by Sam Mendes. Benedict plays the role of a gruff colonel who has to make brutal decisions about the lives and deaths of his men. The Electrical Life of Louis Wain (2021)

The Electrical Life of Louis Wainis a 2021 British biographical comedy drama directed by Will Sharp. The film revolves around the story of Louis Wain whose father dies and he becomes the sole breadwinner of the family. He supports his five sisters and mother by working part-time as an illustrator for The Illustrated London News under Editor Sir William Ingram. Ingram offers him a full-time job, but Wain declines in order to try his hand at composing music and playwriting which he hopes will support the family but neither of the ventures becomes successful.
