The 73rd Primetime Emmy
Awards are back with an offline award ceremony, in a step towards
normalcy. When looking for a new show to watch, you can never go wrong by going
for an Emmy nominated series. We take a look at the shows nominated for the Outstanding
Comedy Series.

Black-ish
The sitcom
revolves around the life of an upper class African-American family. The characters
struggle with several socio-political and personal issues. Andre Johnson is a
wealthy advertising executive and his wife Dr. Rainbow is an anaesthesiologist.
They have five children and struggle to find the perfect balance between their
personal and professional life.
Cobra
Kai
The martial
arts comedy-drama is a sequel to the original Karate Kid films. Johnny Lawrence,
now in his 50s works as a part-time handyman far from the wealthy lifestyle. He
has a son named Robby with his former girlfriend. He reopens the Cobra Kai
karate dojo in hope of recapturing his past. The show was acquired by Netflix
in 2020 and since then its ratings have increased heavily.
The
Flight Attendant
The show
is based on Chris Bohjalian’s novel which shares the same title. An alcoholic
flight attendant, Cassie Bowden, wakes up from a hangover and a man is found
dead in her hotel room. Instead of calling the police she choses to clean the
crime scene but due to her poor decision making, gets caught up in the murder
investigation.
The
Kominsky Method
The series
has been created by Chuck Lorre, which should be enough to convince anyone to
watch it. It revolves around the life of an actor, Sandy Kominsky, who had a
brief moment of hope in Hollywood and now works as an acting coach. The show
can be streamed on Netflix.
The heart-warming comedy follows American football
coach Ted Lasso’s transition to the United Kingdom. There he is given the
responsibility of leading an English Premier League team, despite not knowing a
single thing about the game. He must lead a dressing room filled with star
players, manage their egos and take them to glory.
Emily in Paris, Hacks and pen15 are the other nominees
for the award.
